Moving to the New Fluency Platform

Fluency instances are moving to the new Fluency SaaS platform. Each instance is migrated application by application, most data sources move over without any change on your side, and your current instance stays available while you try the new one.

Why move

The new platform is the base for everything released this year: real-time search, the data lake with KQL, the new applications, MCP and AI clients, and processing that scales with your data volume. See the release notes from v1.6.6 on.

How the move works

  • Side by side. Your new instance runs alongside the current one, at a new address of the form https://<companyname>.app.ingext.io. You can try it before switching over, and the current instance keeps working until you do.
  • Application by application. Integrations move one application at a time, and most move one to one, with the same settings.
  • Syslog keeps flowing. Devices sending syslog do not need to be reconfigured. The existing syslog endpoint keeps receiving, and the data is relayed to the new instance.

What changes for you

  • Data is filed by source. The current platform stores everything in a single default index. The new platform keeps most data sources in an index of their own, such as Office365. Saved searches, facets and reports that point at default may need to be updated.
  • Microsoft Defender needs a reinstall. The new Microsoft Defender application uses an app registration in your Azure tenant, with its own tenant ID, client ID and client secret. See Microsoft Defender.
  • Microsoft 365 setup without consent, if you prefer. The Office365, Office365 Resource Watch and Azure Directory Audit applications can use your own app registration instead of admin consent. See Platform Update v2.6.28.
  • History stays where it is. After you switch, the current instance stays available read-only, with the data it collected.

Next steps

Your Fluency representative will contact you to schedule your instance's move. Questions about timing can go to them or to Fluency support.
