Advisory: Google Workspace User Activity
If your Google Workspace integration shows administrator events but no user activity — no sign-ins, no Drive or Gmail events — the cause is an access setting in your Google Admin console, not in Fluency. Google sends only administrator events to a third-party app whose access is left at Limited.
Why it happens
Approving the Fluency app's OAuth request is not, on its own, enough for Google to release user activity. Google Workspace also applies the app-access setting the administrator chooses for the app, and while that setting is Limited, the Reports API returns administrator events only. Google enforces this whether or not anything changed on the Fluency side.
What to do
- In the Google Admin console, go to Security → Access and data control → API controls → Manage Third-Party App Access.
- Find the Fluency app.
- Change its access from Limited to Trusted, so it receives the two scopes it requested:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/admin.reports.audit.readonlyhttps://www.googleapis.com/auth/admin.reports.usage.readonly
User activity — including successful and failed sign-ins — then flows on the next poll. See Google Workspace.
